Me: "Goodnight Brody, I love you. MMMMWAHHH!"
Brody: "Heavenly Father?"
I was confused for a second then it clicked, he wanted to say prayers -- so cute, we have family prayers all together, but I don't have individual prayers with my two-year-old very often (maybe I should change that). So I said a little prayer with him and he recited the last three words of every sentence right along with me like he always does. Wow I thought, my kid is going to be a general authority or something he is so in tune with the spirit asking for his own prayer like that!
We finished and said Amen.
Brody: "Mommy, bless the food?"
Me: "We bless the food when we eat."
Brody: "I want to eat! I'm HUNGRY!"
Okay, so really I think he was thinking if we said prayers he got to eat something, like after we say prayers at dinner time...ahhh! the child psychologist within me is clarifying the situation here. I've heard every excuse in the book for my kids to get a late night snack...but praying for it? After a nice glass of milk and a slice of bread n butter he was all set and out like a light. Next time my little two year old says Heavenly Father I'll think twice about my little general authority and maybe more like I should probably feed him a little more at dinner next time. In the meantime, next FHE lesson is learning we pray for other things besides blessing the food.
